The 2nd XI - 5th XI all play in the Thames Valley Cricket League with our 2nd XI in Division 2, 3rd in Division 5, 4th XI in Division 7 and 5th XI in Division 9. In 2024 our 2nd XI finished 3rd having gone close all season, the 3rd XI finished 5th, 4th XI finished 3rd by 2 points to top having lost only 2 games all season and our 5th XI finished 5th.

At HWCC, training is a big part of the way we go about our cricket, we start pre season in January with nets and fielding practice on Wednesday nights and offer from October nets indoors at John Hampden on Saturday mornings through until April.

When we move outside, each of our teams has a designated training night which is around 2hrs of training in of training per week in our astroturf nets and grass nets (When weather allows!). A big part of our training is fielding, we want to be the best fielding team in our leagues, so each week, each squad will do a minimum of 30 minutes fielding training per week.

Junior Cricket

Our Juniors have teams at all age levels from u9s up to U19s, with the first introduction to cricket through All Stars and Dynamos programmes which start from just 5 years old.

Through our age groups, we have two teams in multiple age groups, we are able to offer cricket to all players and abilities.

Each Junior for their membership fee has access to indoor winter training from January, which offers players a minimum of 1hr of training on Friday nights.

Once we get to the season, we move outdoors in April for training at the club for an hour and a quarter training on Friday nights, led by our age group coaches, of which we have 14 ECB level 2 qualified coaches.

Our teams all compete in leagues and cup competitions, with our U13s Warriors, U12 Dragons, winning the league in 2024, our U17s Warriors, U15 Dragons, U14 Warriors, U14 Dragons, U9 Dragons finishing 2nd in their respective leagues.

The U17s finished their cup competition runners, up along with our U15s & U13s who also finished runners up.

In our Junior section, we have XX players who are in the Bucks pathway.

In 2024 we had over 350 appearances in Saturday league cricket by our Junior players (An average of 20 players a matchday across our 5 league teams), a testement to the work our junior section does in developing junior players for Senior cricket.

With our pedigree over the years of developing talented juniors and providing cricket for juniors of all abilities, you can be sure that junior cricket at HWCC is where you want your child to be playing their cricket.

Women's & Girls Cricket

Womens cricket at HWCC has gone from strength to strength since we reformed the section in 2023, where we started with 3 women who joined us in our first session to 15 who had joined and signed up by the end of the 2023. Over the course of the 2024 season, our womens and girls section grew to 25 players, competing in Hardball and softball competitions in the local area,

Our Women’s section is a key area we are looking to grow over the course of 2025, with a fun and engaging approach to our cricket, led Level 3 coach Obi Sarwar, our players have improved immeasurably since we launched the section.

Our Head of Women’s and Girls cricket and Women’s Captain is Anna Cooper who works closely with Chris Burnard (Technical Director) & Obi Sarwar (Lead Coach).
